Open Stage of Harrisburg is a regional professional theatre and educational program dedicated to supporting a company of artists to present diverse offerings of thought-provoking theatre and educational activities in intimate settings.
Founded in 1985 by Donald Alsedek, Anne Alsedek, and Marianne Fischer, the theatre has established itself as an outstanding source of artistic achievement in the region, as well as an innovative educational resource through The Alsedek Theatre School. It has become an institution in the area, offering a full season of plays and musicals, classes for children and adults ages 5 and up, an annual production of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK school day matinee performances for students, and the annual Capital 10-Miler - A Run for the Arts. Open Stage, like all arts organizations during the health crisis, pivoted to create experiences to connect with audiences and students virtually, utilizing cutting edge technology and creating innovative and engaging online theatrical experiences. Memorial Day Weekend 2021 the organization reopened its doors to the public with a full schedule of programming.
